FLAT CAP:
One thing I knew for certain that I wanted to keep in my model was the plaid flat cap but I felt I needed to find some images to relate back to so the design is more distinct.
Flat caps seem to come is all sorts of colours and fabrics but it is clear that the plaid is more of the traditional old man style. I plan to make the top cover of my teapot character more asymmetrical so there will be an easily identifiable front and back, leaning more toward the hat notion.
CLOTHING:
I found plaid was a recurring theme throughout my research especially when it came to tops, scarves or ties.
FACIAL EXPRESSIONS:
Mimicking an angry frown in my teapot character within the cracks and worn out parts on the model could be a possible solution to think about. However, this may make the model a little too complicated and messy.
Looking at these puppets was a good way to pinpoint where frown lines would go on a model to create a realistic grumpy expression as they so over exaggerated. They also bring a humorous undertone that could be fun to play with through my character.
