Animation of my drawn up walk cycle of my grumpy teapot character.
I had a lot of trouble at some stages of animating this, with the mesh warping and doing all sorts of crazy shit when the joints started moving. To start with I though it was because of the paint weights being messed up, but the more I tried fixing them, the worse they got. They just seemed to return back to there previous state where some areas wouldn't accept any influence. Also, in other areas it seemed like the paint weights were fine and I had no idea how to even try to attempt to fix them.
After some intense battling I came to the conclusion that I should just unattached the model skin and re bind it back to the skeleton. AND PRAISE THE LORD it fixed all my problems and everything was working fine again. So much stress for nothing.
The feedback I got for this current walk cycle was that it was almost too happy and bouncy. I need to focus more on the slouchy / grumpy aspect of my character and emphasise this through its movements. For this to be easier for me, it was suggested not to have my character limping as this is just adding another aspect and over complicating things.
From here I'm just going to have a play around in maya and see what I can come up with, then go back and draw up what I have and expand from here. All in all, I feel like Im in a good position with two weeks to go and am confident with where my animation is heading. AN EXCITING ROAD IS AHEAD.
