Focus Points and Script

Key Details:
  • Temple dedicated to Vishnu
    • Use this as inspiration for the style and colour approach of the model
    • Decorated with detailed bas-reliefs of Hindu devatas
      • These will be the animated aspects of the video
    • Massive scale of the temple, especially in the long corridors held up by large pillars
      • Will dictate how the camera will move through the space to emphasis this


    Script:

    SCENE 1-
    • Establishing shot of model looking through the front gate/entrance
      • Camera slowly moves through opening and up the first lot of stairs
      • Once it reaches the middle of the building the camera will pan up slightly to look at middle redented tower
    • Text.. "Angkor Wat"
      • "YaÅ›odharapura, Khemer Empire, Cambodia"
    • Voice over.. "Angkor Wat: The largest religious monument in the world, located in the capital of the Khmer Empire in Cambodia"


    SCENE 2:

    • Low angle camera looking from inside corridor out to the central tower
      • Pans around the perimeter of two sides passing the two rows a columns
        • Back wall to right wall
      • The sun and shadows will make this a very interesting shot
    • Text.. "King Suryavarman II (ruled 1113 – c. 1150)"
    • Voice over.. "It was constructed by King Suryavarman II in the early 12th century to dedicate the Hindu Supreme God of Vaishnavism, Vishnu"

    SCENE 3:
    • Camera looking down outside wall corridor, angled toward wall on the right with pillars on the left
      • Focused on bas-relief detail of Hindu devatas
        • Will animate small movements of arms and head
    • Text.. "Devata- Hindu deity/gods"

    • Voice over.. "Many of the walls are decorated with an extensive amount of detailed bas-reliefs of devata"

    SCENE 4:
    • End shot looking down from the flat form of the central tower
      • Sunset/background of surrounding area in the distance
    • Text.. "Hindu Temple: Early 12th century - late 13th century"
      • "Theravada Buddhist Temple: Late 13th century - present"
    • Voice over.. "In the late 13th century, Angkor Wat gradually moved from Hindu to Theravada Buddhist use, which continues to the present day"
