Weight Painting Issues

I successfully managed to set up the rig and weight paint all the joints. However, the way I did it made the legs squeeze together like tubes whenever they moved. More altering to be done..

SO MUCH FRUSTRATION! This weight painting does not seem to want to cooperate. I try to alter it slightly so the legs bend better but it comes off very jagged and gross. My next solution would be to add more edge loops down each of the legs in hope it makes for a smoother product. Wish me luck.
