New Approach to Unity Practice

Decided to start again with a new character. I found this one that has animations attached to it which I thought would be good to begin with so I dont have to worry about animations to start with

However, when I did import the character it only came up with 'animator' in the inspector rather than 'animations.

I ended up just ignoring that for the time being and played the scene just to see what would happen. I was not disappointed (well actually I kinda was).

I don't even know where to begin with fixing this, so made the executive decision to start over once again.

This is the lovely character I found. Although it does not have animations, it does have a slightly better rig than the first character.

Ended up having to fix the preferred set angle for all of the joints before I could add in the IK handles. But once that was all sorted out I was fine to go ahead with the animations.

Since his legs are slightly spread apart, I am unsure how they will animate. Otherwise, his weight painting and skin deformation doesn't look too bad.

My next step will be to create some rough animations, add them onto the character in Unity and see how he looks. This will be a good setup for when I animate the cycles for my own modeled character.
